Spring Ahead: Safety Checklist for Sunday’s Time Change
With snow and ice still upon us in March, it’s hard to believe it’s time to “Spring Forward” at 2:00 AM this Sunday! The annual time change is wonderful reminder that warmer weather is on the way and the cold and snow of winter will shortly be but a memory. This weekend is also a perfect time to think about some household maintenance while turning the clocks ahead and gaining that extra hour of daylight. With that in mind, here is a quick run down of items homeowners and renters will want to have on their Spring Forward checklist:
- Change your clocks: Spring Forward, Fall Back
- Replace batteries in smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
- Check/replace your furnace filter
- Replace lightbulbs – now would be a great time to purchase the more energy efficient ones!
- Replace flashlight batteries
- Check medications for expiration dates and discard those that are expired
- Check items on your car such as wiper blades, fluids, and lights
- Re-evaluate your home insurance policy
